Gwinnett County’s new state-of-the-art venue, Gwinnett Stadium, was opened to the public on April 17, 2009. The Gwinnett Braves Triple-A stadium’s design was inspired by historic and memorable baseball parks in the region. The most notable feature is the 360 degree concourse that allows fans to view the game from all angles. The stadium’s exterior façade is composed of materials that were regionally manufactured including the brick, glass and cast-in-place concrete. Environmental responsibility and sustainability were adhered to from design through construction by recycling construction waste; using recycled content materials in the facility; incorporating reclaimed water in all restrooms; and installing a lighting energy management system.
The stadium will ultimately serve as the focal point for the developing mixed-use entertainment district.
